Dry Needling
Dry needling refers to the use of acupuncture needles or hollow-core needles to help treat different types of muscle pains, and is usually complimentary to manual therapies and soft-tissue mobilising.
Dry needling is designed to target trigger areas that act as direct sources of pain, with the ultimate goal of restoring normal, painless movement. This form of treatment is effective at easing tension for several musculoskeletal conditions like:
- Headaches
- Tennis elbow, hamstring injuries, quadriceps strains and other tendinopathy conditions
- Lower back pain
- Rotator cuff pain, impingement syndrome and other shoulder pains.
- Ligament sprains, patellofemoral and other knee pains.
- General tightness and cramps in calf and buttock muscles.
Dry needling seeks to increase blood flow to injuries via a twitch response. A fine needle is inserted into the body, which drains waste product from it. This enables quicker healing. Our physiotherapists are skilled to administer this technique in the safest manner.
